They are fancy red tigers, they are caridina and unfortunately what the lfs said was wrong. They need a buffering substrate with low ph, gh and next to no kh. That’s not to say they absolutely won’t survive but the chances are not great for them. Ph needs to be 6.4 or less, gh 3-6, kh 0-1. I’d return them if that’s a possibility.
And as far as I know, it’s possible to keep Caridina and Neocaridina in the same water (if difficult). There’s a thin overlap on the conditions they’re happy in.
