Yeah he’s probably fine. As long as he’s filtering the water and not raking the substrate he’s doing fine!
I’m guessing he’s been hanging out near the light, I wouldn’t be worried about algae, as said elsewhere it’ll eventually molt and be brand new and shiny

Don’t know about the algae, never noticed that on mine.
Have you ever seen it picking off the bottom of the tank for food?
What are you feeding?
You are what you eat.
From my experience there way more active at night so that’s why you don’t see him filter feed
