  1. Nope, it’s the saddle. That’s where the eggs are stored before she gets berried.

  2. Definitely a saddle, but honestly I get why you think it might be fungus. That’s the saddle-st saddle I’ve ever seen. Hope to see some eggs soon!

  3. Saddle. For new shrimp owners it’s the eggs, start in upper carapace and will slowly move down to tail where it becomes eggs. For translucent shrimps like this it’s like and indicator of when they will be ready to reproduce.

  4. If you have males in your tank, you can expect her to be berried within a month 🙂

  5. That is a female and the yellow is her adolescent saddle. As she gets older, it will drop into eggs.

  6. Nope. She’s a perfect mama!

  7. BLUE JELLIESS!? Cute little fellas. It’s her saddle, hope she’s berried soon. By the looks of her saddle, she could be a really big momma soon.

  8. Smurph shrimps ❤️

  9. It means she’s a female

  10. Blue shows the saddle differently than others I have seen, probably because of the yellowish eggs being filtered through the blue shell looking green. If your tank is new, I would not be surprised if she drops her eggs the first time. If you have fish, they may eat the babies as well. The babies are very small, so you may not notice them for a week or two after hatching.

Here are a couple shots of my blue velvets eggs from when I had them for comparison.

I remember when I kept close watch on every berried female. Now I have more than I can possibly keep track of (the orange swimmers are shrimp):

  11. Yeah, there is something seriously wrong with this shrimp.

It will be annoyed from time to time, but won’t tell you why whenever you ask. It will demand you to be a mind reader. It will take its mother to your house for a prolonged amount of time which is a devil incarnate. If you marry one, it will take half of your stuff in divorce.

It is what we call a female. It might look cute and friendly, but beware of dangers.

  12. Check the page for the same question that has been asked 100+ times 😅

  13. Nope congratulations that is a saddle and you will be adding to your colony soon 🙂
