Best rule is to keep fish and other animals with other species that are similar sized or have small enough mouths. Even een small tetra can eat a small shrimp.
Sorry man đ those are cichlids, seem like you know what they are so I wonât give you the speech. Itâll happen, theyâre super aggressive. Iâd move the shrimp for their safety. The cichlid got the taste of shrimp!
I’ve got some in a tank with GBR, I only know that because I took apart some rocks last week, literally hadn’t seen any in a year. But there are 4 confirmed, and with the rest of the rocks there are def more and possibly all of the other 8 are still in there too, lol. So maybe they haven’t all been eaten like I assumed, they’re just terrified any time the lights are on. They prob saw a couple of their buddies get got and want nothing to do with it
I think I saw my first baby cherry shrimp last week. I was trying to focus in on this spec, and my apistogramma come to check out what I was looking at. Ate it right up. I don’t hold much hope for the rest.
If you want Cichlids AND shrimp try Rams. My Bolivians will nip at baby shrimp, but not adults. I have enough in the 40 breeder they live in to maintain a decent population even though I know for sure I lose some shrimplets to predation. Plants, and small rock piles with tiny crevices give little shrimp great cover.
lol you live and you learn. Theyâre aggressive fish. Cichlids should just be kept with cichlids if you donât want them to munch each other, and even then itâs not a guarantee.
Lol you were surprised?
that is indeed a cichlid and that is what they do
I’d would be shocked if she didn’t eat them.
As expected
Well, youâre the one that provided the meal. Cichlidâs gonna cichlid.

It’s like you locked a kindergartener in a playpen with some fresh dino nuggies, you can’t blame him

Well⌠you DID decide to keep a predatory fish with its prey
Never trust a cichlid.

Can you add enough shrimp for them to reproduce on their own and the fish will always have food?

Jewel fish? Beautiful btw
So Iâm pretty sure I have an albino one of these that I got as a hitchhikerâŚwhat kind of cichlid is this?!
What type of cichlid is this ?
I need to borrow him as I have a shrimp explosion going on.
Damn you fed her gourmet food and your mad sheâs eating. Please!!!
Garsh… Ill do it again!
Bold of you to call a fish who’s main diet is shrimp, it’s like calling a person a bich for eating cow meat. Oh wait-
What kind of cichlid is this? Its beautiful. Looks like a bigger and longer gbr kind of.
Cichlids are savages and very quick I dunno why you put them together. Beautiful fish enjoys expensive live treats.
