  1. Yes, it’s a dragonfly nymph. Good thing you removed it, as it most certainly will devour (at least) smaller shrimp if you get some.

  2. It always amazes me how creatures show up in tanks. Like how tf you get there bro? Nature finds a way I guess.

  3. I removed it from my aquarium since it looks harmful towards my shrimps. Could it be a dragonfly larvae?

  4. Keep your eye out for more. It’s unlikely you had just the one. They can hide in substrate by burying themselves and they camouflage really well

  5. I kinda want to make a tank just filled with cool bugs and critters like this.

Imagine a tank with crabs, scuds, triops, leeches, larvae, shrimp, artemia, snails, daphnia, ADFs, tadpoles, nano fish, crayfish, etc.

Sure, most of these aren’t compatible with each other, but it’d be cool to have like a primordial soup of sorts lol.

  6. Now I am become Death, the destroyer of skrimps.

  7. I had one of those in my tank and all it took was adding some duckweed to lure it out..the immediate relief I felt when I squashed it. But definitely going to be more careful about buying plants at petsmart or at least do a quarantine period.

  8. the worst thing to find in an aquarium. I lost half of my tank one time 😞

  9. how do the dragonfly nymphs always end up in a shrimp tanks ?

  10. MURDERER! One of those killed a good amount of my skrimpies. I hate them since.

  11. We had one in my friends tank. It lived off the babies in there and one day a blue dragon fly flew out. He left his because it looked alien like and they swim funny. 🤷‍♀️

  12. I don’t get how people are getting all these outside creatures into their tank. Do they come with the tanks or do people get their aquarium stuff straight from the wild without cleaning it?

  13. Skrimp assassin

  14. Omg! How did it get in there! Horrors! Lol

  15. Yes it will decimate your shrimp .. they say use vinegar and water to rinse your plants well before inserting.. but they also live in rocks driftwood etc. Anything from outside boil anything before inserting and rinse any living ..

  16. dude one of those appeared in my shrimp tank and it scared the living shit out of me

  17. I love dragon flies! But not in my tanks lol.

  18. It’s an alien!

  19. That’s a dragonfly Larvae right?

  20. that’s what it is ? i literally had one of these in my shrimp tank a while back. they literally had wings too i was so scared

  21. Great photo

  22. Those things look fucking scary af in the water. The way it blends in too. Imagine being a little fish and this fucker pops out

  23. Yes dragonfly or damselfly I recently had my whole tank destroyed by the larvae eating all of my snails and shrimp left me 1 shrimp I had to soak the substrate and wood in boiling water and dunk plants in snail killer 😩 which killed off half my plants 😔 if you got 1 you’ll have more I found around 15 in my tank before I dumped it god knows how many more I actually had they come in on live plants always quarentine new plants and treat them before putting them in tank

  24. This is definitely a Libellulidae naiad, the Skimmers or Perchers family of Dragonflies. They’ll definitely eat larval or small fishes, but anything larger than their jaws is safe

  25. I’d setup a tank for that dope ass mofack. #coolaf

  26. beautiful little guys, but will absolutely wreck your sh!t

  27. Only a dead bug is a good bug!
