It is clay based material.
I use it in my tanks and most plants seem to do well in them. They don’t have built in plant food or anything. I think allows fine roots or thick roots to easily grow in it
It’s not great. Provides zero nutrition to plants. Raises pH. Hard for fine-rooted plants to grow in.
I have it. I’m going to put sand over it.
