Biofilm. Your shrimp will eat it.
A completely normal and harmless biofilm that always grows on new wood. Your shrimp will readily eat it.
Shrimp should have a field day with it
Your shrimp should eat the biofilm, but to prevent so much of it in the future, soak your driftwood in boiling hot water a couple of days.
This will also prevent your water from instantly turning tea-colored and help the wood to sink faster.
