1) Get aqua soil and add in root tabs. Some aqua soil doesn’t need it but I’ve always notice a different when I add in root tabs regardless. As far as the actual Aqua soil to use, you can try Fluval stratum or any other brand.
2) You can try the dirted tank method with adding potting soil (PRO-MIX Premium Moisture Potting Mix) and then adding a cap of sand.
