1. look like shrimp eggs, and yeah they can just drop them for a lot of reasons including being a first time mom. if you want to try and save them I recommend trying to set up an egg tumbler in your tank. if you’re interested in trying that and want more info I can give you some links!

  2. The mucus that normally adheres them can fail.
    If not eaten, they’ll hatch from where they land, I found best was to drop them among gravel substrate for shelter (assuming no detritous worms).
    They don’t need a tumbler as they aren’t fish eggs carried in mouths, shrimp don’t do anything like that. They don’t suffer from the same issues.
    They hatch without fully developed swimming parts and hungry so being right among substrate with low flow is ideal.
