You only need hiding places if there are fish that would eat the fry. I suggest getting BacterAE. It will help immensely with fry survival. Do not use too much! Just a tiny pinch. I put it in a small squirt bottle, shake it up with tank water, and squirt it in. It promotes biofilm to support the fry.
