I have neocardina shrimp in a 20g long with kuhli loaches and a betta. Not many of the babies make it to adulthood but none of the adult shrimp are bothered by the fish.
I really want shrimp in my tank, but I think it might just end up as expensive fish food. Gonna wait until the plants really overgrow so they have plenty of hiding places. How often do you get to see your loaches? I heard they like to hide and are nocturnal.
I recently got a group of 8 kuhli loaches after dreaming about them for a long time and I’m so happy I did. They’re always out and about together, rooting around the mulm and draping themselves over the driftwood.
No shrimp in the tank with them, but I do have a cherry shrimp tank with a ton of susswassertang. I’ll have to try this out sometime and give them a little rare snack.
I’m sure some would survive. He looks like he’s having fun either way so if you’re morally okay with the feeding then it should be good! FYI I’ve heard this can also happen with snails. I’ve heard they’ll nom them up.
Mine don’t bother my neos at all. The babies usually hangout around my floating plants, so even if the kuhlis were interested, they’d be out of the way.
We have had one for years now. Name is wild Willy lol. We see him about once or twice a year. He has been assumed dead multiple times. Has even live thru tank transfers that he was not seen during move.
They are fairly good snail control as well as long as they’re small. I had a colony of ghost shrimp with them but they were feed really well. In general shrimp and snails are a no go with loaches. I’m sure there are a few people that have managed it like me but if it works it’s luck

That is a very odd patterned Khuli. Wonder if it’s a tank bred individual or a wild caught local pattern variant.

awww slurpin up all the friends 😭 I’m done buying fish of any kind when my current groups die off, i’m aiming for that invert only lifestyle
It means you also need a shimp-only tank.

I have 7 kuhli loaches in a 55 gallon with a very productive colony of shrimp, never seen the loaches mess with the shrimp

I love kuhli loaches, so colorful and animated.

I bought a few of these for my outdoor above ground pond and they all died. Idk what I did wrong, all my other fish are healthy 🙁
