The Asian stone is a small species of catfish lined in shades of mottled grey and brown. The coloring marks the fish’s physique in tough stripes, giving them a resemblance to a rock that helps them mix in. Even their eyes change coloration from darkish brown to gentle beige.
These Asian catfish have sharp, serrated dorsal fins that they use for protection. If one thing tries to eat them, the spines stick of their mouths and make them choke.
In addition they have lengthy spines alongside their pectoral fins. The fins are longer than that of most catfish, and so they resemble an anchor.
Asian stone catfish are fashionable in nano tanks as a result of they solely develop to about 1.3 in (3 cm) in size. Within the wild, they might develop bigger, as much as 1.6 in (4 cm), however this doesn’t occur typically.

Barbel 4 pairs. Dorsal backbone sturdy. caudal fin forked, higher lobe longer then decrease lobe. Coloration brownish (Rahman, 1989), yellowish brown (Talwar and Jhingran, 1991).
